Energy Performance Certificates

Since 2008, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) have been legally required for any commercial building over 50 m2 when it is built, sold or rented. The certificate is valid for 10 years and must be accompanied by any recommendations report. The revelations report should include references to the existing recognised benchmarks, with suggestions on cost-effective measures to improve energy performance.

Thermostatic Radiator Valves

By fitting thermostatic radiator valves to your radiators, you can more easily control the temperature of each radiator in a room and thereby reduce the energy consumption of fuel heating system.

Thermostatic radiator valves are also known as TRV's and they work by sensing the temperature of the air around the radiator to ensure that the radiator is only providing heat when it needs to do so.

Green Building Design

Green building design should take a holistic approach and include the building envelope, the climate, building services, and human factors.Green building design should adopt a top-down approach that considers the overall design intent before implementing any individual measures.

Building Services

When considering the building services energy efficiency should look at areas such as the type and size of the system to be employed, planned controls and efficiency, fuels and operating regime.

Solar Water Heating

Solar water heating usually employs roof mounted solar heat collectors that heat a fluid that then heats up water that can be stored in a hot water cylinder.

In the UK, a 4 m squared solar water heating system can usually be installed for approximately £2500-4000, and will typically provide 50% to 70% of our homes hot water requirement
